At Functional Chiropractic, our focus is to provide Huntsville, AL and Fayetteville, TN the best Upper Cervical chiropractic care with the purpose of helping people with their overall health.

Dr. Porter

Dr. R. S. Porter is a Huntsville native, who moved to Seattle after high school. While living and working in the Seattle area, he personally experienced the benefits of Upper Cervical chiropractic care.

After years of suffering from chronic allergies, headaches, acid reflux, and a developing chronic fatigue, all of Dr. Porter’s symptoms went away after receiving chiropractic care. The benefits were so life-changing that Dr. Porter decided to go back to school and complete his Bachelors of Science, as well as his Doctorate in Chiropractic.

He studied Exercise Science at Seattle Pacific University while obtaining multiple certificates in personal training. Dr. Porter is certified by the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) not only as a personal trainer, but also as a Corrective Exercise Specialist and a Sports Performance Specialist. He is also certified by the American Council on Exercise (ACE), the National Council on Strength & Fitness, and Apex Fitness and Nutrition.

Dr. Porter began his chiropractic training at Parker University in Dallas. While at Parker, he was President of an Upper Cervical club, served as a Student Government Association leader, and spent much of his free time on campus as an anatomy lab assistant. Dr. Porter completed his clinical studies at one of the few schools that emphasize Upper Cervical in their curriculum and clinic, graduating with a Doctor of Chiropractic Degree from Sherman College of Straight Chiropractic in Spartanburg, S.C. While completing his 4 years of chiropractic school, Porter continuously attended Upper Cervical seminars and has trained in multiple Upper Cervical techniques.

Dr. Porter is Webster Technique Certified by the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association.

Teri Hasemeyer Porter, CFO

Teri Porter has been a part of Functional Chiropractic since early 2015 as part of the marketing and leadership team.

She became office manager after her and Dr. Porter’s wedding in December 2015, and after their kiddos were born in 2018 and then 2022, Teri has taken more of a backstage role as CFO and social media manager. Her commitment and passion for chiropractic were born out of a passion for ballroom dance and the required level of fitness, health, and supporting the body to perform at its best.

Teri enjoys dancing, training for and running Spartan races, and most importantly, homeschooling and hanging out with their son, Teddy, and daughter, Alexandria. Teri and Dr Porter also have a little YorkiePoo named Chewbacca.

Teddy Porter

Theodore “Teddy” Porter has been lovingly known as Functional Chiropractic’s “mascot, chiropractor-in-training, youngest assistant, and the maitre’d” over the years. He is Dr. Porter and Teri’s son and has been in the office since about 8-weeks-old.

He is now 5 years old and loves to be at the office, playing with Andria (2-year-old little sister), watching Daddy adjust patients, and helping with many tasks.

His favorite hobbies include building with Lego blocks, his building couch, and clay. His favorite color is red and he loves to “make faces and make his family laugh.” Teddy was born in Tennessee, because midwives weren’t legal in Alabama at the time, and when he grows up, plans to be a “builder… or a chiropractor”.

Our mission is to keep families healthy

If you suffer from any sort of pain that can be helped by chiropractic care, don’t wait to make an appointment!
